Qatar Airways minors flying alone

Does Qatar Airways offer services for children traveling alone?

For children traveling alone, Qatar Airways offers two services to ensure that the child is taken care of throughout the journey and handed over to the designated person upon arrival at the final destination: the Unaccompanied Minor Service and the Escort Service.

How old should my child be to benefit from these services?

The Unaccompanied Minor Service and the Escort Service are provided for children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. Before their 5th birthday, children will not be accepted to travel alone. Starting with their 16th birthday, children are no longer eligible for these services.

Unaccompanied Minor Service

When booking a flight for your child, some additional information is required, such as your child’s age, as well as the personal information of the parents/guardian and contact persons (names, telephone numbers and addresses). You can also highlight any special requirements for your child, such as a special meal.

At departure and arrival, Qatar Airways will provide priority assistance through check-in, security, immigration, boarding, baggage collection, and customs clearance processes. Although the child will be assisted by Qatar Airways staff, the person accompanying your child must remain at the airport until your child’s flight departs.

At the originating airport, your child will be received and assisted through a smooth, fast check-in and then taken care of while on board the aircraft. A Qatar Airways representative will also help your child upon arrival with filling in the forms required by Immigration and Customs and baggage collection. Your child’s baggage will be tagged with special tags, for quick and easy retrieval upon arrival, and your child will be helped with the bags through Customs, up to the arrival hall, where he/she will meet with you or your representative.

Fee

The adult fare must be purchased for a child traveling as an Unaccompanied Minor.

Escort Service

The request for the Escort Service must be made through your local Qatar Airways office at least 72 hours prior to flight departure.

The Escort Service procedure is the same as for the Unaccompanied Minor Service, the only difference between these services being that, with the Escort Service, a dedicated Qatar Airways representative will accompany the child all throughout the journey.

Fee

When the Escort Service is provided, Qatar Airways will charge the return fare for the airline representative acting as an escort.
