Unaccompanied Minor Service

To book a flight for your child traveling alone, you must contact Air Transat’s Seat Selection and Information Centre up to 2 days before departure. The child must be brought to the airport by a parent or responsible adult and have confirmed reservations through to destination. In order to complete the required form and check baggage, you should check in 3 hours prior to flight departure.

During check-in, you will have to provide complete information regarding the person who will meet the child at the destination(full name, complete address and phone number). Special tags will be attached to the child’s baggage, in order to identify them easily, and your child will also be given a pouch (containing travel documents – tickets, passport, Customs forms, etc.) to wear around the neck and identify him/her as an Unaccompanied Minor. You must remain at the airport until the flight is airborne as confirmed by an Air Transat agent..

All Unaccompanied Minors get priority boarding on all Air Transat flights. An Air Transat representative will accompany your child during boarding. At no time is your child left alone. During boarding, your child will be introduced to the flight director in charge of cabin crew who will escort the Unaccompanied Minor to his/her seat and introduce him/her to the flight attendant responsible for that section of the cabin. Cabin crew will pay special attention to the child during the whole flight. Upon arrival, cabin crew will introduce Unaccompanied Minors to Air Transat ground staff. The Air Transat representative will then accompany your child through Customs and Immigration, as well as to the baggage claim area, and, using the information given on the form, will check the identity of the person who has come to meet your child.

Photo ID will be required by the Air Transat representative from the person collecting your child at the destination. The child will not be released to a person who is not listed on the form. If the information does not match, Air Transat will contact the parent/guardian who accompanied the child to the departure airport. If no one is present to meet your child at the destination, Air Transat will contact local authorities.
