LOT Polish Airlines minors flying alone

Does LOT Polish Airlines offer a special service for children traveling unaccompanied?

For all children, from the youngest age until their 18th birthday, who need to travel alone, LOT Polish Airlines offers a special service to ensure a safe journey.

Are there any differences regarding the assistance depending on the child’s age?

Up to the age of 5, the special Escort Hostess service is mandatory for children who are traveling alone. A LOT flight attendant, specially assigned, will accompany the child from check-in until the moment when the designated adult meets the child at the final destination. To order the Escort Hostess service and check the cost of service, you must contact LOT Contact Center.

When children between 5 and 12 years of age are traveling alone, LOT’s special Unaccompanied Minor service is also mandatory. Assistance will be provided by successively designated passenger service ground personnel, during the departure and arrival procedures on land, and by a member of the cabin crew during the flight.

On all LOT flights and without any restrictions, young passengers between 12 and 17 years of age may travel alone. However, special assistance can be offered to young travelers at their parents’ specific request. When such a request is made, assistance will be arranged as for children between 5 and 12 years of age, and they will travel under supervision of a member of the cabin crew.

For children under the age of 14 traveling alone and starting their journey in Italy, a declaration signed by both parents must be presented when they check in. The declaration is issued at police stations in Italy.

Unaccompanied Minor Service

As the number of Unaccompanied Minors traveling under LOT’s supervision is limited per flight, you must request this service no later than 24 hours before the child’s flight. An Air Carrier Care Instruction must be completed by the parents/guardians. The form can be obtained from a LOT Polish Airlines office or at the check-in counter.

Unaccompanied Minors will be escorted to the aircraft by a LOT representative or handling agent and introduced to the flight attendant who will escort them to their seat. Upon arrival, the Unaccompanied Minors will be escorted off the aircraft by a LOT representative or handling agent. Unaccompanied Minors’ luggage has the priority status confirmed by a special tag. At the agreed point, the Unaccompanied Minor will be released only to those persons named on the Air Carrier Care Instruction. Identification will be required.
