Air North - Yukon's Airline voyager avec des animaux domestiques

How can I travel with my pet on Air North, Yukon’s Airline flights?

With Air North, Yukon’s Airline, pets can travel in the passenger cabin or as checked baggage in a pressurized and temperature controlled area of the aircraft.

How do I book my pet’s travel?

If you plan to travel with your pet, either as carry-on or checked baggage, to ensure space is reserved for your pet, you must contact by phone Air North’s reservations team prior to travel. If space is not reserved, Air North, Yukon’s Airline will accept pets for transportation on its flights on the first come, first served basis. When connecting from Air North, Yukon’s Airline to another airline, you must allow a minimum of 4 hours between flights, and it is your responsibility to arrange for any accommodations for the pet between flights. Air North does not transfer pets transported as checked baggage, not even when you connect to a same-day domestic Air Canada flight.

Although there are no embargo periods, Air North, Yukon’s Airline reduces the number of kennels allowed per flight during the busy Christmas holiday season to ensure the safety and comfort of all pets.

For transportation within Canada, there is no special documentation required for pets traveling in the cabin, and only a pet declaration form at the time of check-in is required for pets transported as checked baggage. All pets traveling into or out of the United States, either as carry-on or checked baggage, must be at least 8 weeks old and will require a health certificate and the value of the shipment.

Pets as Carry-On

On Air North, Yukon’s Airline flights, dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits may travel in the passenger cabin. Air North allows one pet per passenger, and there is no additional charge for your pet to travel as carry-on. Each carry-on pet must be in an approved kennel that complies with the following requirements:

  • Must be a soft-sided kennel.
  • Must meet the weight and size restrictions for carry-on baggage, according to the type of aircraft operating the flight.
  • Must allow for your pet to naturally stand and turn around.
  • Must fit under the seat in front of you.

Pets as Checked Baggage

When traveling as checked baggage, pets must be transported in a kennel certified for air travel, and maximum 2 pets per kennel are permitted. As per IATA rules and regulations, all live animals may travel via air, but all rules and regulations set out regarding live animal air travel must be met. Air North will not accept for transportation unweaned animals or females with suckling young and does not recommend to travel with weaned animals younger than eight weeks.

For pets traveling as checked baggage, Air North, Yukon’s Airline will charge additional fees at the time of check-in:
