When I purchased my tickets, I specifically asked the Northwest Airlines ticket agent for an exit row seat when I went to retrieve my tickets and passes. Of course, I flew this flight long before airlines started asking customers to pay for exit-row seats. I flew in this same seat round trip between Los Angeles and Schiphol and while most people aren't too happy with having an emergency exit with a very bulky box within their leg space, the flight attendants didn't mind my using the door as a foot rest, since I am a broad-shouldered 6'-4" tall and there was NO place for me to put my long legs without bothering my neighbor. Considering the tray table is in the armrest, which makes this seat a tad smaller than I like, it was still a comfortable place to sit on a crowded flight of 9.5 and 10.5 hours each way.

While I flew aboard this aircraft twelve years ago in 2003, I still remember the fabulous service! Every time I thought I was getting thirsty or hungry, the flight attendants were coming by with trays of water, orange juice, very hot towels, meals, or snacks. The meals weren't terrible, I was pleasantly surprised to have dinner and breakfast on both legs of my trip. Of course, being one of the first passengers off the plane isn't too shabby. One of the boarding doors is directly across from this seat at both Los Angeles AND Schiphol.

The entertainment could have been better, but only because passengers were constantly congregating in front of the lavatories blocking my view of the one screen the six of us in rows 21- and 22-HJK were viewing. The galleys are rather close, but KLM's flight attendants are VERY conscientious about working quietly and not disturbing nearby passengers most of whom were sleeping.

My one downfall with this seat is that you do not have your own airflow control or area to stow your bag overhead, so if you get hot easily on flights or mind putting your bag in a bin across from your seat, I would reconsider this one. The service was wonderful, the food tasted good, and you got to deplane before the general passengers through exiting through the kitchen. Our entertainment system stopped working for about 30 minutes, but they fixed that. One of the bathrooms was out of order for about an hour or two too for our section of business class, but they fixed that too.

Aside from the fact that my much hated boss was sitting three rows ahead of me, this was a pleasant flight. I sat on the upper deck outwards and on the lower deck return. Seat 4E was very pleasant as I could see out of both sets of portholes with ease and had no one in front of me. The seat is not very comfortable for a J class product, but as this is only a 3 hour flight, it was not a hardship. Service was crisp, cheerful efficient and cohesive. Meals were tasty and served with a smile.

4A is a standard KLM business class seat but being a single seat it offers indeed a lot of space and privacy. Without the proximity of any toilets or gantries if also is a very quite area. Definately one of the better seats in the plane. The (new) KLM business seat itself is ok but not as good as many other airlines (Emirates/ Singapore, etc). Same applies for service, in general good but overall not as perfect as many others especially considering the KLM price level.

Bussiness class seats are not as comfortable or spacious as in other airlines, perhaps, service offered is great and food is also quite tasty. Look at the picture to have a better idea about the seats.

The seat overall is one of the best I've ever met. The entertainment is excellent; you can do whatever you want with your personal screen! There are a lot of movies and games on there, and there is music too! The food is pretty good compared to other airlines, and the service of KLM is always excellent!

My husband and I had seats 9B and 9C... The seats are incredibly narrow, due to the fact that the tray table and scream are both inside the armrest. I am not overweight and I could barely fit in the seat. (We paid extra for this horrible seat because it is in the "Economy Comfort" section!)

I thought the whole experience was great, from check in, to the club and the flight. The seat was very comfortable and the service was unbeatable. Am sitting upstairs on the way back. I will post that experience but I expect it to be no different.

Great experience. I especially liked the storage next to my seat between my seat and the outside wall. There was lots of room for all of the items I brought on board that I needed to get at. The service was outstanding.

Best intercontinental flight yet! Loved this KLM 747-400 ( cargo) aircraft configuration. Enconomy comfort section was great. Appreciated a mini tour of this interesting aircraft by the senior purser! A shame they will decommission this plane in a few years.
