SpiceJet flying with babies

Are there any age restrictions regarding babies traveling on SpiceJet flights?

SpiceJet accepts for travel only babies over 7 days old. Within the first week after birth, infants will only be accepted upon medical authorization from a physician.

How can I travel with my baby on SpiceJet flights?

SpiceJet will consider “infants” children up to 2 years of age on the date of travel. Infants are allowed to travel only on their parent’s lap. A maximum of one infant is allowed per adult, and a separate seat will not be provided for an infant. For infants, SpiceJet will charge the applicable Infant Fee per sector, depending on the route.

No extra seat may be booked for an infant, and no car seat or pushchair is allowed in the passenger cabin.

Infant Booking

Each infant must be accompanied by one adult passenger, and each adult may carry only one infant due to safety norms. No extra seats may be booked for infants. Due to limited inventory for accommodating infants per flight, passengers are required to follow the following procedure when booking children below 2 years of age:

  • SpiceJet requires passengers to specify at the time of booking that they are traveling with an infant.
  • If you have forgotten to book the infant, you must call the SpiceJet reservations with the reservation number, and SpiceJet staff will assist you with the request.

SpiceJet requires proof of age, so you must carry the infant’s passport or valid ID (birth certificate) for inspection at the airport on the date of travel.

Infant Fee

Infants will not be charged any basic fare. An Infant Fee per sector is to be paid at the time of booking:

On SpiceJet flights, infants do not qualify for a free checked baggage allowance, with one exception: for travel to Dubai, the free checked baggage allowance is 3 kg.

As for hand baggage, infants are not entitled to a separate hand baggage allowance, but passengers traveling with infants are allowed an additional piece of hand baggage of maximum 7 kg and not exceeding the size restrictions (total of 115 cm / 45 inches on Boeing flights, total of 108 cm / 42.5 inches on Bombardier flights). No baby car seats or pushchairs are allowed in the aircraft cabin.
