Ryanair check-in

What options do I have to check in for a Ryanair flight?

All passengers must check in online, on Ryanair website, where they can print out their boarding pass, or through the Ryanair app (available for Android and iOS), where they can receive a Mobile Boarding Pass. Checking-in at the airport is possible, but a significant fee applies. Only Flexi Plus and Plus passengers can check in at the airport free of charge.

When must I check in for a Ryanair flight?

Online Check-in is available from 60 days until 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. Passengers who fail to complete Online Check-in within the above deadlines will be charged an Airport Check-in fee of €/£55.

A passenger that has checked in online can reprint their boarding card up to 2 hours before scheduled flight departure time. However, if you arrive at the airport without your boarding pass, one can be printed for you up to 40 minutes before the scheduled flight departure, but a Boarding Card Reissue Fee of €/£20 will be charged.

Online Check-in

Early Check-in is available from 60 days before departure only with the purchase of a seat. There are three types of allocated seat available for purchase:

  • Extra legroom seat from €/£14 per flight.
  • Front seat from €/£7 per flight.
  • Standard seat from €/£3 per flight.

Passengers who do not wish to select and pay for their seat will be allocated a seat free of charge during Standard Check-in, which is free and available from 24 hours before departure.

In order to check in online, you are required to retrieve your booking first and answer the Airport Security Questions. After you select passengers to check in and enter the required travel documents for each passenger, you can add/purchase additional services: Reserved Seating, checked baggage, sports, musical or infant equipment, airport transfer, etc. Once you have completed all steps, you must confirm check-in and print your boarding passes. You can also save them as PDF files for later printing.

All passengers flying from Moroccan airports need to present their boarding pass at the local airport check-in facility, while all non-EU/EEA citizens must have their travel documents checked and boarding pass stamped at Ryanair Visa/Document Check Desk before going through airport security.

For passengers who arrive at the ticket desk up to 1 hour after their flight departure, there is a Missed Departure Fee of €/£100 to move to the next available flight. Charged per passenger per sector, the fee is only available at less than 40 minutes before and up to 1 hour after flight departure time.

Mobile Boarding Pass

Mobile Boarding Passes are available only to EU/EEA nationals who hold a valid national identity card or passport issued by the government of an EEA (European Economic Area) country. Mobile Boarding Passes are available for bookings with multiple passengers.

Ryanair accepts Mobile Boarding Passes for most of its flights. However, the following airports cannot accept Mobile Boarding Passes: Agadir, Dalaman, Essaouira, Fez, Kefalonia, Nador, Nea Aghialos, Marrakech, Oujda, Rabat, Tangier, Tel Aviv, and Volos. Passengers departing from these airports must check in online and print an online boarding pass.

The Mobile Boarding Pass can be retrieved only via the Ryanair app and viewed by selecting Boarding Pass from the app home screen. If you check in for your flight using the Ryanair app, the Mobile Boarding Pass will automatically be saved onto the phone. If you have checked in on the website, you can retrieve your booking on the mobile app, and it will display the Mobile Boarding Pass.

Boarding

Passengers should be at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Boarding closes 20 minutes before departure. If you arrive later at the boarding gate, you will not be able to take the flight. For travel on a later flight, you will be required to make and pay for a new reservation.

Documentation

You must take with you valid travel documentation matching the details on the boarding pass for all flights both at airport security and at the boarding gate. A valid travel document is required by all passengers, including infants, traveling on Ryanair flights.

A National Identity Card or a valid passport is accepted in most cases. Driving licenses are not acceptable for travel with Ryanair between the UK and Ireland.

If you are traveling to a European destination or Morocco and you have a European passport, your passport only has to be valid for the period of intended stay. For travel to Israel or Jordan, the passport must be valid for 6 months from the date of departure, respectively from the date of return.

All passengers with non-EU passports, traveling into the Schengen Area must ensure that their passport is valid for at least 3 months from the date of their departure from the Schengen member country (this requirement does not apply to holders of Schengen-issued residence permits or long-term visas).
