Oman Air minors flying alone

Does Oman Air offer assistance to children traveling alone?

When children between the ages of 5 and 16 travel alone, Oman Air offers them assistance through all the complicated airport details to ensure that they enjoy a safe and happy journey. From the moment they arrive at check-in until they reach the final destination, all Unaccompanied Minors are escorted and supervised by Oman Air Customer Service Staff.

On which flights are accepted Unaccompanied Minors?

Unaccompanied Minors are accepted on all Oman Air flights, including connecting flights. If the travel itinerary includes a transfer, the Unaccompanied Minor shall be accepted only for immediate continuous connection with all sectors confirmed. However, if the trip involves a transfer with a stopover of more than 6 hours or an overnight stopover, it is the parent’s responsibility to make arrangements for the child to be met and cared for at the transfer point.

Unaccompanied Minors Service

When you book a flight for an Unaccompanied Minor, the child discount will not apply, and travel arrangements must be made with Oman Air in advance. Oman Air Sales Office will provide you with an UM Pouch to keep all travel documents, an UM badge for your child to wear, and the Carriage for Handling advice form. The form must be completed with information about:

  • The child (name, age, sex, languages spoken).
  • The journey covered by the Oman Air ticket.
  • Contact persons (name, address and telephone number) at the departure and arrival airport and transfer station, if required.
  • Special instructions about the diet or any other important information.

The original form will be retained by the Oman Air office, and two copies would be attached to the ticket (one for the departure customer service team and one for arrival customer service team). At the airport, Oman Air Customer Service Unit will be responsible for receiving the Unaccompanied Minor from the parents or adult relatives, attending to all check-in and departure procedures and escorting the UM up to the aircraft.

Onboard, the Unaccompanied Minor would be assisted to be seated on the pre-assigned seat and offered a game kit or coloring book. The cabin crew will check regularly on the child’s needs (food and beverage), general comfort, etc. If the travel itinerary includes a transfer, the Customer Service Staff will take care of the child and escort him/her safely onboard the connecting flight.

On arrival, the child will be escorted from the aircraft and guided all through the airport formalities until the arrival terminal, as per pre-departure arrangements. Identification is required before handing over the child to the parent/guardian.
