LATAM Airlines Bagage et bagage à main

What is LATAM’s policy on carry-on allowance?

The carry-on allowance refers to those personal effects brought onto the airplane by the passenger, considered under their custody and their responsibility and free of charge. Each passenger may carry on board one handbag. Depending on the purchased fare, a carry-on bag may be taken on board if the airplane’s capacity allows it.

What is LATAM’s policy on checked baggage allowance?

This refers to all baggage checked at the airport and transported in the aircraft hold. For flights with stopovers, baggage will always be labeled through to the final destination. The dimensions and weight of each standard piece of baggage are:

Standard volume (width + height + length) 158 linear cm / 62 linear inches
Standard weight 23 kg (50 lbs)

If the baggage exceeds the standard weight or number of pieces allowed for the trip, excess baggage charges will apply. Pieces larger than 300 cm (118 inches) or exceeding the maximum allowed weight of 45 kg (99 lbs) cannot be carried in the hold. On flights to or from Europe, Argentina, Aruba, and Oceania, and when connecting with Air Canada, British Airways, Iberia, or Qantas, the maximum weight allowed per piece is 32 kg (70 lbs).

Which baggage policy applies when my itinerary includes a codeshare flight?

If the trip includes a codeshare flight operated by another airline, passengers should review the inter-airline baggage policy because the Most Significant Carrier rule applies, except to/from the United States and Canada, where the baggage policy of the first carrier applies.

Baggage Service

If, at your destination, your baggage doesn’t appear in the baggage reclaim area, it’s important to follow these steps:

  • Contact LATAM personnel immediately, before leaving the baggage reclaim area. Only complaints made before leaving the baggage reclaim area will be considered valid.
  • Use your Passport or ID, boarding card, and baggage receipt to formalize your complaint.
  • Use your name and the given case number to trace your baggage online.

If your baggage appears in the baggage reclaim area but is damaged, you must contact LATAM personnel immediately. If you have already left the baggage reclaim area, you must come back to register your complaint no later than 7 days after the arrival of your flight.
